the one thing that i have the most problems with, other than handbags (oh, the storage problems i have), is with trinkets. baubles, tzotchke, and nothing made of gold, has maintained itself as the frontrunner to where my lost disposable income has gone. i think of it as a hobby, a collection, if you will.
i make no distinction between fake & real, as i wear them both, and more often than not, at the same time. quirky and sometimes offbeat necklaces, long earrings, chunky rings and bracelets, stacked 3 to 4 at a time.
yes, sometimes i go overboard and wear too much; should i clink and jingle at the same time as i walk, i know something has to be removed and worn another day. it is just my sheer love it all that makes me want to wear it all the time.
take, for example this 'pirate treasure' necklace from poison apple nyc:
although the nautical theme is very of the moment, i could and would wear this little bit of whimsy for years to come. i love how it is both feminine (pearls, swarovski crystal strand) and a bit butch (skull/crossbone). and although i said i don't usually wear gold, the mix of vintage strands, just makes the piece look even more wearable.
i've been pining over this necklace for weeks. find it at poison apple nyc (.com)
