done.

so, the dress.

i've found the dress.

never has a purchase made me nervous. never has a purchase made me petrified.

this purchase, this purchase had a physical effect on me.

but when it was done, i felt like i took a valium. or four.

but, it's done. and i'm so very glad.

and no, i can't show it to you.

sorry.

forgetmenot.

while you're out and about, take a boo at my shop, wee bit boutique. the holiday season is fast approaching, so check out the designs from missy industry.

and more designers are coming soon!

orla.

the twee thing? it's back, just for a moment, so please humour me.

this orla kiely bulldog handbag, in a vibrant blue with a white-patch for a pocket is roomy enough to hold everything and the kitchen sink, which is what i usually lug around withe me on a daily, and shoulder aching basis or you can give yourself some relief and tote this punchy and modern handbag around whilst window-shopping, all the while balancing the biggest, ventiest coffee you can get.

this simple, but ultimately lovely silk v-neck dress from lewis cho is just the thing to take you from spring to winter and back again. layered for a warmer look with thick-ribbed tights and a stacked heel boot is just the thing to make this dress more delightful by the second. and quite plainly, i could snap this up in a second. also? i've recently become totally and utterly emamored by the colour purple - so, i'm totally digging this frock.

emerald.

the common notion that the older one gets, the more conservative they become - is now so amusing to me. in my youth, i kept a very rigid perspective on my style, manner of dress and views. it subscribed to a notion and to a time that no longer existed - a time when sta-press was no longer de rigeur or really talked about amongst those in the know. i have kept the kohl-rimmed eyes, but i have loosened up around the edges and added a few more shades other black into my wardrobe. in a word, i've accepted 'twee' into my life. i've understood that whimsy is a good thing. a necessary thing.

and with that, i think i've given you a long enough lead-in to these rodo shoes.

an emerald-green suede with quite the flower detail on the toe - wouldn't these just propel you to don the shortest skirt you can muster and show off your gams all the while pointing down at your toes...?

hobo.

this bag strikes me as a bit different from the ms. johnson aesthetic, but to me it truly doesn't matter, because it is just so utilitarian chic. rough and tumble, but sophisticated and totally functional.

you can get it for your fabulous girlfriend, for yourself.

or for me...

get it, strangely enough, at urbanoutfitters.com.

revolution.

just a little reminder about this weekend and the style revolution, happening in toronto at the design exchange (324 bay street at wellington), november 18th & 19th.

get your christmas shopping done early, or forgo the madness and just go for yourself at the city's one and only one-of-a-kind boutique show - there will be a multitude of designers, a silent auction benefiting fashion students at Ryerson University and loads more. i'll be working the door on saturday and will be a part of the judging on sunday.

so come out, say hullo and bring your pocketbook - i have a feeling you'll be needing it...

weebitboutique.

hey! i've got something quite exciting to announce!

a wee bit skint has grown a bit in the last little while, and i have now decided to open up my own little shop called most aptly, the wee bit boutique!

it's a little rough around the edges as i'm just now getting my bearings and i hope to be adding some more innovative and supremely talented designers in the very near future. the first designer, is the most talented melissa from missyindustrycom - and i am most pleased and proud that she has decided to sign up with wee bit boutique.

so go and have a look around, tell me what you think - and if you're a designer and would like to come aboard, just drop me a quick note at misshoax@weebitboutique.com.

stay tuned, there will be more items coming soon!

ban.

and now, the not-so spendy life. i like to mix things up. i'm just kooky like that.

my best girlfriend and i used to have a "ban" on urban outfitters. we never really understood the appeal of super-expensive t-shirts that had not-so-witty witticisms emblazoned across the chest. the ingenuity of them was probably very lost on me.

then suddenly, there seemed to be a shift in the tone and character of the urban outfitters buyer. suddenly, certain items were chic, trendy of course, but not entirely throw-away. some items are quite lovely and clever. so, my ban was lifted and i won't hide the fact that the proximity to the closest store is a mere 5 minute walk - and that gives me no end of quick and stylish satisfaction.

so, i give you my latest UO picks, enjoy!

ruffle.

i'm living the spendy life this evening. it's like make-believe, the best kind, like when you're dressed to the nines.

this next frock, was found when looking for something else. looking for something that i wouldn't normally post here, it was found during my research in the hopes of finding a certain something white that would belong to my, ahem, trousseau. and so, i found this ivory ruffle buttondown dress by chloé from tracey ross, that although not exactly appropriate, is still quite the picture of loveliness.

100% pure silk in an ivory hue, with short sleeves and a buttondown neck -  perhaps, it would be appropriate for the civil ceremony side of things that the boy and i are planning.... hmmmm.

boudoir.

if only i could remember who it was that introduced me to the wonderful world of boudoir, i would heartily thank them. but the beautifully chic designs, and yes they are mostly of the dress-type variety, of disaya prakobsantisukh, who although was approached by alberta ferretti to join her design house after graduating from central st. martins, decided to launch her own label - boudoir.

and seriously, you should take a gander. her dresses and coats are tailored with such efficiency and grace, that nothing seems remiss. but, there is so much beauty and whimsy in there too. and just to note, everything, with the possible exception of the bikinis that you will find on the site, i would snap up in a new york minute.

tarte.

i am an avid, a very avid and enthusiastic wearer of eyeliner. it's one of those things that just defines my look. it is rarely noticeable, except perhaps when i'm doing my face for a special occasion, but the eyeliner is my thing and i have a drawer brimming  with pencils to prove it to you. obviously, i have spent years searching for the perfect formula. i like one that is somewhat like a kohl, in that i can smudge it to make a smoky eye, but not so emollient that it vanishes within a 30-minute time frame.

i've found a few contenders, mac makes a great one called powerpoint, that is long wearing and comes in wide array of outstanding colours, but the one i've been really enjoying the last couple of weeks is my tarte eyeliner in starry night.

this pencil just lasts and lasts and doesn't end up on the upper parts of my eyelid from blinking. the colour is matte and rich and you can wear it either in a thin, defined line or smudged for a sexier, less polished look. i'm going to have to stock up.

ballerina.

my mother taught ballet for years and years. somewhere in there i was ushered into the ballet class where i showed little talent and even less patience for the art. don't get me wrong, i love watching ballet, and i'm a bit of snob about it too because i know what to look for, but i just was not cut out for it. what i did love about ballet were certain components of the dancer's wardrobe. leg-warmers, tights, wraparound sweaters and sheer little skirts were so heavily in play that i think it was that that instilled a bit of the girl into my otherwise tougher look when i was growing up. however, what i always loved and still do, is  the look of the pointe shoe.

i did not love what they did to my feet, i could do without the blisters and bleeding, but they made you look like a ballerina - instantly imbued with grace and fluidity. years later, i wouldn't dream of putting them on my feet to dance, but to put on a pair of these repetto 'bardo' ballerina flats would be like having the best of both the style of the dance and the style of the street. truly fantastic....

against.

i'm sure one and all of you have noticed that not once have i featured a peg-legged jean. i have not showcased the skinniest of skinniest of denim because 1) i don't think you need me to point out the obvious, and 2) i think they've been done to death. they have become the uniform of choice and i choose to silently ignore them. i'm not saying one shouldn't don them, i'm just saying there are other options that are being overlooked, and ones that might be a bit more flattering - as those teeny jeans are particularly hard to wear - even if you are a lithe one.

in any event, and to be a bit of a devil's advocate - i am a fan of the wide-legged trouser. it could be tied to my affinity for the silhouette of the 50s, but i think i like them because of their mannish femininity. and so, these isle of skye trousers from anthropologie are exactly what i'm talking about. wide-legged and slightly masculine, but the sailor bib waist and buttons at the sides make for an ultra-feminine silhouette.

they may not be what everyone is wearing, but i think that is what makes them perfect for the season...
