pumpkin.
question:
can a girl like me, who has shied away from wearing colour for years suddenly don a pumpkin coloured frock? i'd really like to find out because i quite enjoy the easiness of this 3.1 phillip lim lace up tunic. i'm all about the simple for summer dressing and this fits the bill.
but how do you become more comfortable wearing bright, BRIGHT colours when you've been wearing something close to black for as long as you can remember?

I'm all for wearing colour. Beautiful dress.

It's never too late to switch to a bright, dayglow color like orange. Black is fine, but it's nice to be able to break out into color from time to time. Orange is a very pleasant color: it's warm and vibrant, and I would submit fun.

When I was detoxing from the too-much-black-clothing syndrome (surely it will soon be listed in the psychiatric manuals), I found that if I wore one black piece with the more colorful pieces I was able to curb the habit.
It didn't take me long to discover that color is great and that black is not the only neutral. Depending on your skin tone, you may find that a color you never expected (tomato red for me) makes your face absolutely glow -- people compliment me whenever I wear it.
I'm glad I expanded my color horizons. Baby steps, baby steps...

baby steps indeed... i'm definitely walking around like a drunk toddler.
i have now in my possession an orange shift dress for the summer and a muted purple silk frock. who knew i could be so daring?!

You absolutely can wear color after years of black. I'm forcing myself to do it and it's resulted in more compliments in the last few months than I've gotten in years. I agree with Modern Lunacy, pair color with a black piece to ease your way into it, that worked for me as well.
