reprise.

it's been a while since i've mentioned anything etsy.com, but one shouldn't take that to mean that my love affair has subsided any. because, really - for a little while about a month ago,  i thought i had a little problem and that i was going to have to hide my macbook away out of fear of purchasing one too many pieces of jewellery (obviously), and that my jewellery wardrobe would wilt under the pressure.

enter, steel couture.

a dark mix of rubber and silver, lisa of steel couture, designs with a very downtown girl in mind. and although the pieces might look rough and tumble, there is a definite sexiness that softens the look up. and if you know me at all, you know that i'm all over the marion necklace in black. oh etsy, how i adore you...

threepotatofour.

i recently went to a bridal shower that had mentioned on the invitation, "cup & saucer shower". having never been to such a thing; well, actually, i had only been to three showers previously - and of the three, one was my best friend's very greek shindig and my own, which was such a russian affair, it couldn't really have been called a 'shower', but rather a hurricane. - so, this cup and saucer themed one threw me for a loop. it took me ages to find something appropriately wonderful for my dear friend, who is most stylish and utterly chic - but, finally! finally, it came to me at this sweet little mom & pop shop at three potato four.

four sets of these and i was a happy puppy. but what made finding these that much sweeter, was the shop that i found them in. chock full of fabulous vintage and new finds, three potato four is a collector's paradise and you can tell that janet morales & stu eli truly adore what they do and take great care in finding the best possible pieces. those little items that fill in the corners of a house, that make it a home.

pleasant.

i rented the loïc prigent doc, marc jacobs & louis vuitton over the weekend and although it goes only elbow-deep into the world of lvmh and the rigorous schedule a designer has to abide by, (especially when you're a designer that does six shows a year and seemingly never sleeps) what i got out of it most of all, was that although marc jacobs has undergone a bit of a pretty-boy makeover in the last 18 months or so, he is a man that is ultimately talented, but pleasantly, does not come replete with the fashion obsessed conceit that you think most designers are born with.

you come away from it, and i say this if you're a fan of his, or if you just appreciate his talent from afar, liking him that much more. and that was a very pleasant surprise...

shimmering.

i'm sure i've gone on for miles about a certain issue i have with wallets. the one where i have to change mine on a yearly basis, for no good reason other than the fact that i find ones that are so lovely and sometimes weird that i just have to have them. it's an odd habit to be sure, but shoes never called out to me the way these smaller, more compact leather accessories have. there'll be no staid brown leather billfolds for me, oh no.

surely then, dear readers, you can understand my sheer adoration of this tsumori chisato 'shimmering ocean' wallet. it may perch itself too near the cliff of twee, but that doesn't bother me a bit, i find it to be just the right amount of whimsical chic.

tatou.

somehow the lovely audrey tatou went unnoticed on the red carpet. or perhaps she wasn't interested in walking it. however, here she is looking positively glorious wearing chanel haute couture. the choice of chanel was no wonder, ms. tatou was just named the new face of chanel no. 5... she may entice me to buy a bottle.

alasalack.

i can only imagine the spectacle that the met's costume institute actually is. it seems almost otherworldly, the beautiful people, the flash bulbs snapping, and of course, the clothes...

alas.

the clothes did not knock my socks off. red carpet entrances from year's past just seemed to have that gasp effect; this year, not so much.

they weren't all bores, there were some interesting looks...
